TBL Summer 2020 Conferences

Summer 2020 was certainly a wild ride, and we’re very proud of four of our members presenting their interesting research at the SB3C and ASB online conferences. Presenting her work on the response of ovine cortical bone to moderate exercise at SB3C, Sara Moshage enjoyed developing her science communication skills. “I think creating short, succinct videos about our research was a great way to communicate science during this pandemic,” she said. Making a case against Wolff’s Trajectorial Theory of bone remodeling, Michael Rogalski presented the effects caused by the inclusion of muscle forces on the finite element analysis of the femoral neck at SB3C. Excited about her undergraduate research on young horses, Kellie Halloran shared some of her findings on the compressive stress and strain on the equine third metacarpal during growth. Sharing some novel insight on bone mechanics, Chenxi Yan showed his research on the effect of fatigue loading on bone composition and it’s impact mechanics on SB3C and presented important work for the basketball community as he shared his results on tibial bone strain in basketball players during dynamic tasks at ASB. Way to go team!
