Welcome to our new lab member, Griffin!

Griffin Sipes, known locally as a standout undergraduate lab assistant, has joined our lab group as a graduate student! He graduated from UIUC with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Electrical and Computer Engineering in December 2021, while being heavily involved with the student chapter of ASME, working as an undergrad in […]

Sara Moshage publishes first paper on equine bone adaptation during growth

Sara Moshage, along with collaborators Annette McCoy, John Polk, and Prof. Kersh, recently published a paper in the Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials entitled “Temporal and spatial changes in bone accrual, density, and strain energy density in growing foals” (link). The paper details their work to characterize the normal growth and development of […]

Hyunggwi Song’s new paper on rat bone properties during growth

Congratulations to Hyunggwi Song, Prof. Kersh, and collaborator Dr. John Polk of Anthropology on recently publishing their paper entitled ‘Rat bone properties and their relationship to gait during growth’ in the Journal of Experimental Biology (link to paper). They used a combination of motion capture, in vivo micro-CT, and finite element modeling to learn about bone adaptation […]

Society of Engineering Science Conference Presentations

The crew attended the annual Society of Engineering Science (SES) 2019 conference at WashU in St. Louis from October 13-15. Naturally, a trip to the amazing City Museum of St. Louis had to be squeezed in to work off some of the pre-conference nerves. Congratulations to Chenxi, Hyunggwi, and Sara for delivering great talks!
