New paper coming from collaboration with the Harley Lab

Congratulations to Raul A. Sun Han Chang, lab graduate John Shanley, Prof. Kersh and Prof. Brendan Harley (Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UIUC) on their new paper featured on Science Advances!

The paper presents an innovative tissue reinforcement strategy that yields biomechanical performance advantages and may be used in the surgical treatment of shoulder tears. While Raul and Prof. Harley developed a way to insert hydrogels between tendon and bone specific collagen scaffolds to create this reinforcement strategy, John Shanley and Prof. Kersh collaborated on the mechanical testing that validated the biomechanical advantages of this novel method. We’re very proud to be a part of this incredible research and would like to thank our current member Roberto Pineda Guzman for some quick assistance in the last stage of the data analysis of this project.

PS. Nice twitter thread on the paper from Prof. Harley himself: https://twitter.com/Prof_Harley/status/1298272676092325888
