Samantha Hammack passed her preliminary exam in the Department of Comparative Biosciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at UIUC. Her work examines muscle and bone crosstalk in the context of a young horse model. Specifically, she is looking at myokines, cytokines produced by muscle, systemically, locally, and in relationship with biomechanical forces.
