Sam recently published a paper in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine. In it, she identified a novel GALC variant that likely explains the Globoid cell leukodystrophy (GCL) disease present in a cohort of dogs. GCL is a fatal neurological disease in dogs, and the identification of multiple causal variants for GCL in dogs is consistent with findings in humans.
